Hosteria Kalenshen

As with all of the hotels in El Chalten, the Hosteria Kalenshen is a small hostel is located just off the main road through town! A fairly simple hotel with fair sized rooms and communal area, they have given it an air of the Alpine through use of varnished wood throughout. Like we say, it is good for those of a budget.

Hosteria Fitz Roy

One of the very first lodges to have been built when the town was founded (back in the early 80s) the Hosteria Fitz Roy is aimed at the budget walking market. The rooms themselves are simple and a good size, and, similarly, the main areas have been built for function over form.

Hosteria El Pilar

The Hosteria El Pilar is the only accommodation around El Chalten that actually sits in the park itself and so has a leg up to start with as far as walking and views are concerned.

Finca Adalgisa

Set in a small winery in the Chacras region of Mendoza, the Finca Adalgisa is absolutely charming and is a perfect spot from which to base explorations of the area. All of the rooms are fairly simple in design and layout, but the real charm of the property and surroundings is in the communal areas and, particularly in the small tasting room above the wine storage rooms.

Faro Punta Delgada

The largest of the three estancias based on the Peninsular Valdes, the Faro Punta Delgada, an ex lighthouse base and training ground for the army, still works, more or less as a sheep farm. The restaurant itself is fairly large and has good views out across the plains.

Faena Hotel and Universe

Wholly designed by the French designer, Philippe Starck, to enter the “Universe” of the Faena Hotel and Universe is a fairly magical experience of unicorn heads and dimly lit tango dens. The rooms, again, are amazingly designed with whites and luxurious reds everywhere.

Executive Hotel Park Suites

Located just around the corner from the Diplomatic, the Executive Hotel Park Suites is its 4 star sister and is very much in the same vein, offering really good value for money along with a good location from which to explore the city.

Estancia Rincon Chico

Our preferred estancia on the Peninsular, the Estancia Rincon Chico is a great place to get a feel for what it is all about, coming to this area of the world. The focus here is on privacy and intimate views of the wildlife of this beautiful area.

Estancia Peuma Hue

Set at the end of the Gutierrez Lake, around 30 minutes drive from Bariloche, Estancia Peuma Hue is an idyllic getaway. The series of buildings and cabins that make up this private and secluded enclave are all built from local wood and have superb views out onto the lake beyond, providing a warm and inviting environment.

Estancia Los Potreros

The first of the main estancias in the region, Estancia Los Potreros is located around a 45 minute drive from the airport, in the hills themselves. The land was once a fully working cattle ranch and, today, while they do still work the cattle a few sheep, it has mainly be turned over to tourism and is, arguably, one of the best riding destinations in all of South America.
