Beaches, falls and forests

The Amazon
17 days

Discover the best of both worlds... Visit the heart of the Amazon to get close to nature, cruising in style, after spending a few days getting into the heart and soul of Rio. Throw on the flip flops and then head out to the glamorous beach town of Búzios, before finishing your trip at one of the Seven Wonders of the World; the jaw dropping Iguazu Falls. This is a great itinerary that we have enjoyed recommending to clients for many years.

Head to Brazil

Fly direct to Rio de Janeiro with British Airways or connect through a European airport.

Rio de Janeiro

Met on arrival and transferred to boutique hotel Casa Mosquito. The following afternoon you may opt to have a full day Rio city tour covering all the highlights such as the infamous Sugarloaf Mountain and the Statue of Christ the Redeemer. Your third day will be free to enjoy at leisure and you may decide to visit the Bohemian hilltop district of Santa Teresa or relax on Ipanema Beach.

The Iguazu Falls

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Foz do Iguaçú where you have 2 days to enjoy the magnificent falls which are formed of up to 270 cataracts and are worth experiencing from both sides of the border. You will start on the Brazilian side with a half day tour of the falls to appreciate the panoramas and sheer magnitude of this Unesco World Heritage site. On day 2 your experience will be more close and personal, crossing the border into Argentina where you’ll have a whole day tour of exploring over, under and through the falls themselves.

Into the Amazon

Your next stop is to move deep into the Amazon basin where you will split your time in nature between safari tours and a 3 day cruise deep in the jungle. To start with you will fly to Manaus where you’ll spend your first night, before boarding The Clipper boat. After this trip you will be transferred to an ecolodge in a natural reserve park where a huge range of activities are on offer including night hikes, kayaking etc.

Transfer to the airport to take your flight back to Rio. Met and transferred to the Casas Brancas Boutique Hotel & Spa in Búzios for some quality relaxation time by the beach over the next 3 days before returning home. This region, approximately 2 hours drive to the east of the city, is often called the St Tropez of South America. Featuring excellent hotels, vibrant bars and restaurants serving an abundance of sea food, it is certainly a great place to kill a few days!

Head home

Transferred back to Rio's International airport in time for your return international flights.
