An itinerary taking in the best of Brazil's Northeastern state of Bahia, this trip combines the vibrant culture of Salvador with the jaw-dropping nature and scenery of the Chapada Diamantina and the glorious beaches around Trancoso. Dance to drum beats in Salvador, swim in deep water pools in the Chapada and laze under leafy palms on the Bahian coast; all within a couple of weeks!

1 - 3

Make your way to Salvador

Fly to Salvador international airport. Met on arrival and transferred to the central Sheraton da Bahia Hotel to stay for 3 nights. Spend the next couple of days sight seeing and exploring the colourful streets of Salvador's historical centre or relaxing by the beach with a caipirinha. Includes a guided walking tour of the Pelourinho on your second day.

Transfer to the airport for the hour-long flight to Lençois on the edge of the Chapada Diamantina National Park. Its deep valleys, table-top mountains and spectacular waterfalls make the Chapada Diamantina one of the best places for hiking and activities in Brazil. Using the Hotel Canto das Aguas as a base you will take day tours into the Park, accompanied by your own guide and driver. Includes a visit to Pai Ignacio Mountain to watch the sunset on day 4 and a full day tour to the Azul and Torrinhas Caves and Poço do Diabo on day 5.


Chapada Diamantina

Met in the morning by your driver-guide and transferred to the village of Remanso, a former Quilombola founded by escaped slaves whose descendants still live there today. From here you will walk towards the Santo Antonio River to take a canoe boat through the Marimbus marshland looking out for birds and Capuchin monkeys that live in the surrounding trees. Cool off in the natural pools and waterfalls of the Roncador River before transferring to the old mining town of Igatu to stay in a basic pousada for the night.


Back to Lençois

Spend your last day in the Chapada Diamantina visiting the deep underground pools known as Poço Encantado and Poço Azul to snorkel in their crystal clear waters. After lunch at a local restaurant, return to Lençois and overnight at Hotel Canto das Aguas.

Met and transferred back to the airport for the afternoon flight to Salvador and connect down to Porto Seguro on the coast. Met on arrival and transferred through farmland and banana plantations to the charming village of Trancoso. An old fishing village which attracts travellers far and wide for its beautiful beaches and laid back way of life, it's the perfect spot for a few days of relaxing by the coast. Stay at the Pousada Etnia for 5 nights. Only a 5 minute walk from the Quadrado the Pousada is set in jungle gardens home to toucans and monkeys.


Head home

Enjoy a lazy breakfast and relax by the pool before being met and transferred back to the airport in Porto Seguro for the flight back to Salvador and connect onto international flights home.
