Arguably the best alternative to the Patios de Cafayate, and at a fraction of the price, the Vinas de Cafayate Wine Resort is a great little property that sits on the small hill that overlooks the town, offering outstanding views, simple accommodation and seclusion without being miles out of the town. This simple but effective hotel is certainly worth a couple of nights in order to explore and soak up the atmosphere of this sleepy little town.

As with many of the traditional buildings up in the Salta district, the Vinas de Cafayate was once a private home, and is set around a central square, with the rooms running along the sides of the square. This layout is actually very effective and, in the case of the Vinas, where there is a second, covered balcony around the outside of the square, it allows all of the rooms to have a view, either out across the vines, or to the San Isidro mountains, or to the Calchaqui valley in the distance.

While the main areas and the rooms are simple in design, there is a good feeling of space and lightness to them that is appealing. As mentioned, the rooms also make full use of the spectacular views that are all around the property and make the lazy afternoon and evenings a real joy watching as the sun sets across the vines and the red rocks in the distance change hues.

Offering good facilities such as a pool and guided walks in the area, the Vinas de Cafayate is a great little hotel and, even though it is a little outside the town, this is still our first choice for many clients.
