Review

It would be hard to be unimpressed by the scale and grandeur of the Libertador Palacio del Inka Luxury Collection, whose countless corridors and internal courtyards seem to be never ending! While it doesn't have the intimacy or character of the smaller hotels, it’s an ideal choice for those looking for a 5-star experience and a wide range of facilities for their stay in Cusco.

With possibly one of the most impressive settings and interiors of any hotel in Cusco, the grand Libertador Palacio del Inka is positioned opposite Quoricancha, Cusco’s Temple of the Sun and is a five-minute walk from the Plaza de Armas.

Steeped in history, the building was originally built for the famous Spanish Conquistador, Francisco Pizarro, and is constructed on the ruins of an Inca Temple. Not a small hotel by any means, the Palacio del Inka is spread across several buildings and cloistered courtyards, which are lit up with candles and heaters in the evenings. Upon entering the hotel guests are immediately met by the ornate glass-rooved lobby and from here separate passages lead off to the sitting area, restaurant, bar, spa and guest accommodation.

The hotel has a total of 203 rooms and suites, which have been tastefully designed with the style and history of the building in mind; including rich yellow walls, dark wooden furniture and heavy burgundy curtains. All are equipped with modern amenities including Smart TVs and Ipod docks. For those looking for added authenticity, we’d recommend opting for one of the suites, which feature hand-painted friezes, exposed wooden beams and private balconies.

Having been recently refurbished, the Palacio del Inka features a number of facilities to help guests relax during their stay, including a spa, hydrotherapy pool and relaxation room. The hotel’s bar runs daily Pisco-making classes and the opulent restaurant overlooking the main courtyard serves Andean-international cuisine using local, organically sourced ingredients.

Historical building, wide range of facilities and location.

Being a larger hotel, we don't feel that it has as much character as other hotels in central Cusco
