Sonesta Posadas del Inca: Lake Titicaca

The Sonesta is located in a similar area to the Libertador and Casa Andina Hotels, and is just a five-minute drive or taxi-ride from the centre of town. This makes it ideal for those wanting to be closer to the town and its amenities. The gardens of the hotel back onto the banks of the Lake, while the twinkling lights of Puno on the opposite side of the bay can be seen from the hotel’s restaurant.

Smaller than the Libertador but larger than Casa Andina, the Sonesta is made up of 80 rooms, which are set over three floors. Rooms are fairly simple and functional in decor, but come with one king-size bed or two twin queen beds and modern comforts including satellite TV, heating, minibar and Wifi.
The majority of the rooms face the Lake and have wide glass windows to make the most of the views.

Features at the hotel include a large lobby area, boutique and lake-front restaurant and bar. The hotel’s restaurant serves Andean Cuisine with a French twist and although we wouldn’t necessarily write home about the food, it is a pleasant place to spend the evenings with great views over the lake and a large open fire.

The hotel also has a private pier and gardens which are home to wild guinea pigs… although they don’t feature on the menu thankfully!
