The Eolo Hotel, Patagonia, is one of the select group of hotels in Argentina that have been awarded membership of the Relais and Chateau group, it is easy to see why. Set outside of El Calafate, Eolo is perched on the side of a sweeping, Patagonian landscape that, due to the clever design of the rooms, literally flows right through the hotel. Located around a central courtyard, all of the rooms are comfortable and quiet and offer outstanding views.

Certainly one of the top hotels in the country, Eolo is a hotel that is operating right at the top of its game at the moment. Much of this is down to the clever design, with a central courtyard and all of the rooms facing out to the surrounding plains. What this allows is a shelter in the centre from the fairly incessant winds that are famous in the area, and for all of the rooms to have the view.

Another great feature of the Eolo Hotel is in the design, by using natural fibres and muted colours, it has allowed the true star of the show to be the surrounding grassland plains. Patagonia is an interesting place to visit more for its barrenness that its features…and this really comes through while staying here, without compromising the luxury aspect.

Added onto the physical attributes are the stunning food and wine that is served at all of the meals and the very high attention to detail and service that is displayed by the staff who make the place come alive. This hotel is truly one of the best hotels you will experience both in El Calafate but in South America. The downsides....? It is often fully booked!
