Where to go for a walking holiday in South America...

With such a variety of landscapes and vistas, South America has to be one of the best places for walking in the world. Whether it’s retracing the steps of the Incas through the Sacred Valley, exploring the glaciers and forests of Patagonia or scaling the Andes Mountains, there are unforgettable walks across the length and breadth of the continent.

Some of the most famous are definitely the Inca Trail to reach Machu Picchu and the W Trek in the Torres del Paine National Park, but there are also plenty of opportunities to get off the beaten track and walk some lesser-known routes backed by just as fantastic scenery.
