One of the questions we get asked most frequently is how much does an Antarctica cruise cost. Itineraries start from around $4,700 per person and can go up to as much as $20,000 depending on the length of the cruise, whether you are flying across the Drake Passage and whether you are travelling on a luxury or an expedition cruise boat.

In an effort to try and simplify the costs we have put together a quick guide how much an Antarctic cruise costs. It’s worth remembering that boats will often offer generous early booking discounts if you book in advance so it’s worth paying attention to these and getting in contact to see if any apply to the boat you are looking at.

- If you are short on time and don’t have the funds for a lengthy Antarctica Cruise then the Antarctica Express Fly Cruises are the best way to visit Antarctica without committing to a ten or twelve day itinerary. Book before 15th March 2017 and you’ll receive a $1,000 air credit reduction meaning you can visit Antarctica for $3,695 per person.

- If you have more time on your hands and are happy to endure the Drake Passage Crossing from South America you can opt for a ten or eleven day cruise to the Antarctic Peninsula on an expeditionary style cruise boat like The Ushuaia from $5,780 per person.

- From here, prices will increase depending on which boat you go for, whether you fly over or sail the Drake Passage and the length of the cruise. For example a ten or twelve day cruise to the Antarctic Peninsula on luxury-expedition cruise boats like the Hebridean Sky or the Silver Explorer start at $7,295 per person and an eight day fly and cruise itinerary to the Peninsula starts at around $11,000 per person.

- Longer itineraries to the Polar Circle or the Weddell Sea usually start at around $10,000 per person. For bookings made before 28th February 2017 on the Akademik Sergey Vavilov or the Akademik Ioffe, you’ll receive a discount of $750 per person.

- Generally speaking, the most expensive Antarctica cruises are those which include the Falkland Islands and South Georgia in addition to Antarctica. A twenty-day cruise on an expeditionary cruise boat like The Ushuaia will still start at around $8,500 per person and can go up to $16,500+ on a luxury-expedition style boat like the Hebridean Sky or the Silver Explorer.
