Rio de Janeiro Activities

Few places in the world combine nature, adventure and culture quite as well as Rio de Janeiro. With its towering peaks, golden beaches and lush national parks, it is fairly easy to forget that you are in the centre of one of Brazil’s largest cities. From paddle boarding, to hiking, to markets, cooking classes, art tours and samba, there is a huge amount to see and do. Below we have outlined a few of our favourite Rio de Janeiro activities so please have a read through the links below:

Robert and Andrew

Robert and Andrew travelled with us to Brazil to see the highlights of what South America can provide. Starting off with the mighty Iguassu falls and the variety of bird life, they then headed into the Pantanal for jaguars, and finally into the Amazon for giant otters and anteaters. Robert was kind enough to share a few of his photos with us!

Nicola and Patrick's trip through Argentina

Nicola and Patrick had a fantastic trip to Argentina in October 2015. Highlights included Buenos Aires, the Lake District, a self-drive trip up in Salta and a couple of nights in Rio at the end.

Mama Ruisa

Set within a restored mansion, Mama Ruisa is a stylish French-owned boutique hotel in the heart of Rio’s bohemian neighbourhood of Santa Teresa. All rooms are individually designed and look out towards Guanabara Bay and Sugar-Loaf Mountain. Small and intimate, Mama Ruisa has plenty of charm but doesn't come with a huge price tag.

Hotel Santa Teresa MGallery by Sofitel

The Hotel Santa Teresa, now owned by Sofitel, is a luxurious boutique hotel in the hilltop district of Santa Teresa. Set within a restored colonial mansion, this hotel has character and style in abundance, with beautifully decorated rooms, an intimate bar and restaurant and a peaceful pool area with stunning views over Rio.

Porto Bay Rio International

Located right on Copacabana beach, the Porto Bay Rio International hotel offers great facilities and value for money. With a great breakfast, a large rooftop pool and terrace with stunning panoramic views and comfortable, modern rooms, this is a great hotel for those spending a night or two exploring Rio.
