Review

An affordable, well-located boutique hotel in the Lastarria district of the city, Su Merced is a fantastic option for those wanting a comfortable base from which to explore Santiago. Compact and independently owned this small hotel stands out for its light and modern rooms and relaxed atmosphere.

Located on Calle Santiago Bueras, Su Merced is just around the corner from the bars and restaurants of Lastarria and overlooks the pretty Parque Forestal.

Su Merced occupies an old 1920s townhouse that has been recently renovated. Inside the design is fresh and modern with an open-plan reception, bar and breakfast area on the ground floor and guest rooms upstairs. Despite the contemporary interiors, the owners have lovingly restored some of the building’s original features like the large stained-glass window in the stairwell.

There are 9 rooms, divided into standard, superior and suite categories. All are simply decorated but bright and modern, with comfortable beds and compact bathrooms. Apart from the standard rooms, all look out over Parque Forestal and the deluxe rooms have their own private balcony. Breakfast is included and guests are given a list each evening to decide what they would like the following morning.

Overall, we were fans of the warm and welcoming atmosphere and small feel of the hotel. This isn’t a hotel for those wanting lots of facilities but will suit city-goers who want to make the most of their time in Santiago and who are looking for a comfortable, well-located base from which to explore.

Affordable and well-located.
