An 18-room luxury hotel tucked away on a private peninsula on the banks of Lake Titicaca and around an hour’s drive from the nearest town, the Hotel Titilaka is quite simply a world away from the large chain hotels in Puno. A Relais & Chateaux property, this is a hotel for those looking for somewhere special to unwind at the end or in the middle of their trip, with excellent food and exceptional service.

Just over an hour’s drive from Puno and a two hour drive from the airport at Juliaca, the Hotel Titilaka is set within four acres of grounds on its own private peninsula. Due to the fact that it takes slightly longer to get here, and because you will want to make the most of the activities on offer while you are here, we would recommend spending at least three nights at the hotel.

There are just 18 rooms. which all face the Lake and are distributed across three levels. Guests can request a Sunrise or Sunset-facing room or a Corner Room, which is the most popular and gives views of both sides. Combining fresh and modern styling with traditional textiles and wall-hangings, the light and spacious suites also come with heated floors, iPod docks, and a comfy banquette overlooking the lake.

Facilities at the hotel include two private beaches with access to the lake, outdoor wrap-around terraces and a private landing dock. Within the hotel there is plenty of space to enjoy your own privacy, with three lounges, a games room, bar, boutique and restaurant. The hotel’s restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lake and features contemporary Peruvian dishes made with locally sourced ingredients.

Accommodation includes daily activities, including visits to local archaeological sites, kayaking, paddle-boarding, cycling, trekking and birdwatching. With programs designed to take guests off the beaten track and into contact with local culture and traditions, Titilaka prides itself on offering guests a more authentic experience of Titicaca.

We also like the fact that Titilaka promotes sustainable tourism practices. It employs local residents, contributes to the local economy by consuming local produce and taking guests to local markets and is committed to fundraising efforts for local education and health projects.

Luxurious accommodation in an isolated position.

You need time to enjoy the hotel.
