Review

An ideal resting spot before or after visiting Machu Picchu, the Inakterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel has to be our favourite in Aguas Calientes. Its tranquil position surrounded by lush cloud forest offers a welcome respite from the bustling centre with all its comings and goings. We have to say we enjoyed everything about this hotel, from the charming casitas to the guided nature walks and delicious menu!

Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel has its own unique and undeveloped position at the foot of Machu Picchu Mountain above the Vilacanota River, which runs through the centre of Aguas Calientes. Surrounded by 12 acres of protected cloud forest and gardens, the hotel feels completely secluded from the busy town centre and yet it is still only a short walk to the railway station.

The hotel is made up of a main building, which houses the cosy lounge, bar and dining room, spa and guest accommodation. The hotel has 81 rooms, which are spread out between white-washed casitas and are reached by following winding trails which lead through the tropical gardens. Rooms range from spacious and inviting Superior Rooms through to luxurious Suites with their own private gardens and heated plunge pools.
As part of their stay, guests can choose to join a number of excursions offered by the hotel’s knowledgeable team of guides. These include nature walks, orchid trails and birdwatching; the grounds are home to over 200 different species including countless hummingbirds! Other additional activities include hiking to the Mandor Valley and visiting Inkaterra’s Spectacled Bear Project.

Other facilities include a spa with Andean sauna and spring-water plunge pool, a boutique and a tea house, where Inkaterra grows and produces its own tea. The hotel also has two restaurants serving delicious fusion-style Andean cuisine prepared with fresh local ingredients and a relaxing lounge area where afternoon tea is served.

Peaceful position amidst jungle gardens

The difficulty is having enough time to enjoy all the property has to offer!
